I've been a good Nintendo fanboy for 20 years now, and have always paid for my games, but I'm willing to consider homebrew/hacks to get my Virtual Console games (that I did pay for!!) playable again. But I just bought a new motherboard, so I don't have the serial number of the new console! ![]() Of course, this being Nintendo, it's incredibly difficult! I called their support and they can actually still help customers do this, but only if you can give them the serial numbers of both the original and new consoles. If you arent sure if your Wii is boot2 compatible you can check your serial number here If your Wii is not boot2 Bootmii compatible you will need: (a.) working nand backup from the bricked Wii. I'm an electrical engineer, so I opened the thing up and tried to fix it, but I determined the issue was either the Hollywood or Broadway chip, so I just bought a new motherboard, stuck it in there and it works great! (Only $13 on ebay versus at least $40 for a used Wii). ![]() With this in mind, if you see someone like what Ive described above, please link them to this post as Ill try to make this post the most thorough, complete, and easy to read description of BootMii.
